Legal Status
Apex Professional University is an autonomous body set up by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh through Apex Professional University Act passed by the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Scheme. After the ascent of His Excellency Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Apex Professional University Act 2012 (No. 7 of 2013) notified by Government of Arunachal Pradesh in the official Gazette of Arunachal Pradesh vide notification No. LAW/LEGN-17/2012 dated 10th May, 2013.
Apex Professional University, Arunachal Pradesh is included in the list of approved Universities maintained by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Association of Indian Universities (AIU). APU is empowered to award Degrees as specified University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of HRD, Government of India under section 22 of UGC Act, 1956. Apex Professional University (APU) has never affiliated any institution, nor study centre in any part of the country other than its main campus at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.
Regulatory Approval
Apex Professional University, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh is a Statutory University legislated by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and approved from the regulatory bodies of the Government of India as under:
- University Grant Commision (UGC), New Delhi as State Private University
- Bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi for conducting Integrated LLB and LLB
- National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for conducting B.Ed
- Indian Nursing Council (IINC) approval is under process for B.Sc. (Nursing).
- Indian Nursing Council (IINC) approval is under process for B.Sc. (Nursing).
- Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy under Ministry of AYUSH,Govt of India and Government of Arunachal Pradesh
Regulatory Clarifications
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi has given clarification that no mandatory requirement for approval to Conduct Technical and Management Programmes by Apex Professional University, Arunachal Pradesh.
University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has given clarification that for registering Private (External) Students not required any approval from UGC and Distance Education Bureau (DEB).
Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi has given clarification that no requirement for approval to conduct B.Sc. (Agriculture / Horticulture and M.Sc. (Agriculture / Horticulture) by Apex Professional University, Arunachal Pradesh.
Memoranda of Understanding
Apex Professional University has signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to set out opportunities for collaboration and positive academic engagement between universities / research organizations / Industry to mutual benefit, without establishing a formal legal relationship between the two institutions.
